VA facing $3 billion shortfall

What?  How so?  I thought we solved this with taxe increases in 2003?  Maybe, just maybe, raising spending from 72 billion to 77 billion wasn’t such a good idea!

We were warned about this by Lt Gov Bolling on March 15th.  Delegate Kirk Cox lays out the facts on the budget on March 7th.

Cox and Bolling knew it was coming!  No one would listen and Kaine just wanted to spend more money and project huge economic gains!  Democrats are always looking for someone to blame….look in the mirror!

I love this….”It’s certainly not going to be fun making these cuts,” Griffith said in a phone interview. “We need to be very cautious, which means we need to be looking to the worst-case scenario.”  Of course, cuts are not fun..it is much easier to SPEND MONEY.. isn’t it!!!  Making real decisions aren’t fun..this is why I have always said it is gutless to increase spending and taxes and courageous to cut spending and taxes!

Puke!

Maybe Congress needs a kick in the head

It worked for Chuck Norris!  And he seems to be smarter than just about everyone on The Hill.

Chuck Norris tells us the solution to our economic woes: go back to the founders’ financial advice:

1. Keep spending within constitutional limits. The Tenth Amendment restricts the size of government, and that should always bear out in the federal budget and spending. That means understanding income and export taxes were unconstitutional to our founders, which if applied today would be two of the greatest economic stimulus packages.

2. Don’t bail out debt with more debt. George Washington wrote in 1799 to James Welch, “To contract new debts is not the way to pay for old ones.” Thomas Jefferson similarly admonished Samuel Kercheval in 1816, “To preserve [the] independence [of the people], we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.”

3. Return to a pay-as-you-go government. If we don’t have the money, we don’t spend it. Period. No more debt. No more bailouts. No more spending. As Thomas Jefferson once wrote to Fulwar Skipwith in 1787, “[T]he maxim of buying nothing but what we had money in our pockets to pay for …[is] a maxim, which, of all others, lays the broadest foundation for happiness.” (Some are quick to point out that Thomas Jefferson financed the Louisiana Purchase with government loans, but they overlook the fact that Jefferson’s administration lowered the federal deficit by nearly one-third in his eight years in office.)

4. Tax for imports, not exports or anything else. Our earliest government’s primary tool to raise revenue was from tariffs. Obviously, we can’t raise all the monies our government now needs by imports alone (because of its excessive taxation dependence through the decades), but we need to return to our founders’ simple taxation system. That is one reason why I say abolish the unconstitutional IRS and implement a Fair Tax. Early Americans did not pay income taxes, export taxes, capital gains taxes, estate and property taxes, corporate taxes, social security taxes, gas taxes or any of the rest of them we pay. However, our founders did build revenue by requiring import taxes from those who wanted to sell us their goods. The fact is, most of our taxes are unconstitutional and would therefore be illegal to our founders. We must appoint only elected officials who want to scrap the present tax code and return to a fair or flat (consumptive) tax system, which doesn’t penalize productivity and will bring American manufacturing back within our borders. As James Madison said in his “Address to the States” in 1783: “Taxes on consumption are always least burdensome, because they are least felt, and are borne too by those who are both willing and able to pay them; that of all taxes on consumption, those on foreign commerce are most compatible with the genius and policy of free States.”

5. Get over the greed. We’re in this financial mess because of greed. Why is government spending out of control? Greed. Why do we as individuals and as a nation keep falling deeper into a pit of debt? Greed. We need, we want and we have to have it. We can’t afford it, but we can’t say no. So we charge it, deferring the penalty. We can’t blame it all on the government, because we appoint our representatives and many of us struggle with greed just like them. If not, then what is it exactly we’re expecting our future presidential choice to do for us, and how is he going to pay for it? Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the Treasury, believed a government that could use greed to motivate its people would become powerful and wealthy. Unfortunately, he was correct. We’ve become a nation that confuses our needs and greeds – and we’ve got to get back to the basics if we’re ever to understand and overcome the heart of this financial crisis.

Kick’em in the head!

“Change” isn’t all good

Fidel Castro campaigned on “change” and it is explained here from a Cubans perspective:

Beware Charismatic Men Who Preach ‘Change’

 Editor, Times-Dispatch:

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day and on July 4 I celebrate America’s. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.

I’ve thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.

When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said “Praise the Lord.” And when the young leader said, “I will be for change and I’ll bring you change,” everyone yelled, “Viva Fidel!”

But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner’s guns went silent the people’s guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I’m back to the beginning of my story.

Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?

Would we?

Hispanics in Richmond

The 56-year-old hospital worker, born in Bolivia, became a U.S. citizen this summer. So when someone with the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce asked if she wanted to register to vote in the upcoming presidential election, she jumped at the chance.

Hispanic Chamber of Commerce?  Does anyone else have a problem with this? What does a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce do?  Why is it needed?  Are there Canadian Chamber of commerce’s?  Any others?

That’s why I am so excited,” Barrientos says. “We have to make changes in this country.”

Will the Hispanic Chamber help?  I wonder what changes she think needs to be made? English as the official language?

“For Barrientos and other Hispanics, change means improvements in U.S. immigration laws..”  Should have known!  I guess this means they are voting Democrat!

“Any candidate that doesn’t have an outreach plan for Latinos is [crazy],” said Mauricio Vivero, executive director of Ayuda, a nonprofit group of Latino businesses in Northern Virginia that advocates involvement in the political and legislative process.

What would this “outreach” look like?  Don’t the issues that I like appeal to Hispanics?  Is there a “outreach” for white, men, married to one women, with four kids?  Once again, it is hyphenated-American politics.  Divide us by race, gender (all three), class, hair color, hairless, fat, and ugly!  Does this help make us “one nation”, a melting pot? or a expansion of the multi-cultural society that looks like a mixed salad (mixed but separate?)

But among the category marked “Hispanics/others,” the gap widened.   See “categories”!  The Left loves doing this!  Again, what are all the other categories?

“Virginia’s Hispanic population is a multiethnic community — a strong Cuban presence, Salvadoran presence and a growing Mexican immigrant population,” Pachon said.   Now we have “segments” of categories?  Will the madness ever stop!!!

“You’re talking about a dozen countries, different languages,” Vivero said. “It’s a tricky business. You’ve got to know who your audience is. It’s not just saying ‘buenas noches’ at a fundraiser.”

So much for assimilation!  Are they talking about America?  Dozen countries? Different languages? Pure madness!

Hispanic community leaders say debate this year and last year over proposed crackdowns on the ability of illegal immigrants to work or attend college in Virginia have energized Hispanic voters and could bring them to the polls in greater numbers.

The important word here..”ILLEGAL”!  So let me get this straight, illegal immigrants are looking for a President that will help “illegal” immigrants go to college?  Boy, we are doing a great job of assimilation people to this country.  Hispanics that are now citizens of this country are interested in Illegals working and going to college?  What great Americans! Let’s just make college free for anyone and everyone (that would be fair, right?

“There has been so much immigrant bashing over the last six to eight years in Virginia that Latinos are going to come out and look at the candidates that are expressing respect to the community for the hard work it’s doing and contributing to the economy,” said Andres Tobar, chairman of the Virginia Coalition of Latino Organizations.

These people do not get it!  No problem with immigration, it is ILLEGAL immigration!!  Shouldn’t any country have the right to choose who comes in our country and who does not! I mean, just for….maybe..security and health reasons!  Example might include, but not limited to…no terrorists or anyone that has AIDS.  Just a question for Illegals or legal immigrants, or “New Americans”, what kind of country do you want America to be?

Amazing!

God is on our side

Charlie Gibson and the radical Left don’t know how to deal with people who have a distinct Christian worldview (examples: 1, 2, and 3.)  A worldview that simply states that there is evil in the world, Islomfascists, and sometimes God uses governments of the world to weld his sword (Romans 13).  Yes, I am so bold to say, God is on America’s side and  America is on God side!

9/11 Tribute

The Lee Brothers were born on 9/11/2001.  The idea behind Patriot Radio and the 6 years we have been on the radio in Richmond was because we were so moved by the events of 9/11.  It changed us forever and I know it changed you also!  America did not deserve this, nor did we provoke it!  We were attack by cowards and pure evil Islamofacists!  We are at war today with these people and always will be until we wipe them out, completely, or their own religion decides to expose them all!

Islomaofacists called down the thunder, now they are getting it!  God Bless our fighting troops and the greatest country on the planet earth!

May we never forget…..and if Richard and I get our way…America will always remember.

“The bridge to” a better Governor

Mrs. Palin used her veto pen to slash more local projects than any other governor in the state’s history. She cut nearly 10% of Alaska’s budget this year, saving state residents $268 million. This included vetoing a $30,000 van for Campfire USA and $200,000 for a tennis court irrigation system. She succinctly justified these cuts by saying they were “not a state responsibility.”

Mrs. Palin cut Alaska’s federal earmark requests in half last year, one of the strongest moves against earmarks by any governor. It took real leadership to buck Alaska’s decades-long earmark addiction.

Mrs. Palin has proven courageous by taking on big spenders in her own party. In March of this year, the Anchorage Daily News reported that, “Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens is aggravated about what he sees as Gov. Sarah Palin’s antagonism toward the earmarks he uses to steer federal money to the state.”

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a Governor like this in Virginia?   Instead we had to deal with Mark “I will not raise taxes” Warner and Governor “I wish I could raise taxes” Kaine!

Oh yeah, and that “Bridge to Nowhere”, she supported the infrastructure bill while running for Governor, but later saw it for the complete waste that it was.  Mrs. Palin also killed the infamous Bridge to Nowhere in her own state. Yes, she once supported the project: But after witnessing the problems created by earmarks for her state and for the nation’s budget, she did what others like me have done: She changed her position and saved taxpayers millions. Even the Alaska Democratic Party credits her with killing the bridge.

Virginia needs a bridge…a bridge to a better Governor!

“cover up the biggest shortfall in Virginia history” ??

Click here to hear The Lee Brothers: Warner_will_raise_taxes_in_US_Senate_and_the_TD_helps

When was this?  I am thinking it might be Tim Kaine’s administration today, but according to Mark Warner it was when he took office!

Tell the same lie over and over again, unchallenged by the media, and it becomes the truth!  Gilmore delivered Warner a balanced budget, by VA state law!

Schapiro shows his regular left-leaning bias in this article: “..spotlights the $1.4 billion tax increase that Warner won for police, public education and social services in 2004”!  As if Warner saved the police, our kids, and “the all important” social services! (I know this doesn’t matter, but the day he signed the increase we had a surplus of 300 million! How can that be?)

Even worst, another example of blaming the taxpayer for a made up “budget problem”, Schapiro said, “Even as the economy slowed in 2001, Gilmore pushed to expand his promised rollback of the locally imposed car tax — a move resisted by moderate Senate Republicans as too costly.”  Hey, Schapiro..it is our money!  I really like the “moderate Republicans” line….Chichester is no moderate..just another big tax and spender politician who doesn’t have the guts to make real cuts.

Speaking of cuts: “Warner cut spending over several years by $6 billion”.  Let see..how do I say this….THERE WERE NO CUTS!!  Warner’s budget exploded..increase…grew..went up!  How can a budget increase be called a cut? Only by politicians and Times-Dispatch writers!

Just like Kaine, Warner blamed the taxpayer for budget issues and he will do it again in the US Senate!

Obama: Terror groups have ‘legitimate claims’

“Speaking in May with columnists David Brooks, Obama said the U.S. needs a foreign policy that “looks at the root causes of problems and dangers.”

Every once in a while, liberals say what they really mean.  However, they have to quickly retract it because they are trying to con the American people.  This is a great example: root causes of problems?  How about Islamo-facism?  How about just pure evil?

Regarding Hezbollah, Obama earlier declared: “It’s time to engage in diplomatic efforts to help build a new Lebanese consensus that focuses on electoral reform, an end to the current corrupt patronage system, and the development of the economy that provides for a fair distribution of services, opportunities and employment.”

Oh no, a liberal talking about “fair” again!!  I usually means one thing, tax the rich and give it to the poor!

Speaking of slipping up,did you see where Obama Hussisen called himself a Muslim?

The Con that is PRICE GOUGING

Tropical Storm Hanna has caused a “state of emergency” in the Commonwealth.  That means many things including the anti-gouging law.

This is a huge con!  It ranks up there with “women’s right to choose”, “we evolved from monkeys”, and “Hillary would have been a great President!”  The anti-gouging law was implemented by well-meaning politicians with hearts bigger than their brains!  Anyone who understands economics and “supply and demand” would not vote for this silly law that only hurts those it tries to help!  However, could you imagine what it would be like for a politicians to argue against anti-gouging laws in today’s culture of “feel goodism” over facts!  If politicians were smarter and cared more about facts instead of their “political-hack careers”, we wouldn’t have things like anti-gouging laws.

First, what is it: The 2004 law prohibits the charging of “unconscionable” prices for goods and services deemed necessary. The measure of gouging is based on whether the price of goods or services “grossly exceeds” prices charged within 10 days before a disaster.

“Unconscionable” prices?  Who decides that? Shouldn’t the market decide, instead of some government entity?  “Grossly exceeds” prices charged?…this means another bureaucrat will be the arbiter of fairness!

The market is perfectly designed to handle shortages and problems in emergency situations better than any “declared emergency” by some VP-running Governor!  These types of anti-gouging laws really prevent the customers and producers/suppliers from trading at mutually agreed upon prices!  These laws will promote shortages and discourage future productions (the law of unintended consequences!)

Wouldn’t it be better to have water, gas, and generators at higher prices in emergencies then have none at all?  Of course, but anti-gouging laws remove the incentive (profit) to bring more water, gas, and generators to the public. Why would anyone go through the risk of delivering more items to emergency areas if there is no extra compensation?  Why did people drive to Richmond after Hurricane Isabel with generators?

By allowing prices to raise in emergencies you will ensure that there is no run on these items of necessity. In other words, if you already have a generator but would like another one you might be stopped by the higher costs.  However, if you don’t have a generator and need one, then there is a good chance there will be one there for you at the higher price!

We now have allowed government to force suppliers to set artificially low prices in emergencies and government has forbid consumers from buying the goods they need at pricing they are willing to pay!  Yep, that makes sense.  It just shows that no one would ever vote for me!

Richard and I will argue this tomorrow morning on 1140 WRVA from 6-8am during our storm team coverage of Tropical Storm Hanna.

Gov. Palin

Since I will not be a voting for Obama, I will be labeled a racists, BUT with the addition of Palin to the ticket, I can’t be labeled a sexists anymore!

Random thoughts:

  • She is everything Hillary isn’t!

Attractive. Femine. Skirts. High heels. Nice voice. Not angry. Happily married. Loves motherhood. Loves America

  • She is real America!

Compare with the elite, life-time politicians of Obama/Biden!  What is more real America: Mom who gets mad at government and decides to do something(Palin) or Barrack and Joe Marxist tendencies?  Palin is my wife, your wife, and every mom, wife, sister, and women who wishes she could do something to make America better by lowering taxes and letting her family keep more of what they earn!  What Washington needs is someone who has Palin’s background: typical high school student, wife, mother, PTA, City Council, Mayor, Governor, VP, and, maybe,…..President of the United States! Compare to Hillary-PUKE!

  • She is a conservative that stands on princple!

Simple, pure, conservative, mainstream principles….acted on!  What a thought!

Maybe it should be Palin/McCain!  Eat your heart out Hillary!
