In 1917, Martin Treptow left his small barber shop in Iowa to join the famed Rainbow Division in France. He was killed while carrying a message between battalions. Inside a pocket in his jacket they found a diary with the title My Pledge. It read: “America must win this war. I will work, I will save, I will sacrifice, I will endure, I will fight cheerfully and do my utmost, as if the issue of the whole struggle depended on me alone.”

What’s the best way to honor those who gave their lives for this country? Fight today for what they fought for then! What if we all acted like liberty depended on us alone?
